Community Garden
Hope's Community Garden Team was formed in the spring with the help of Vicar Alex and The Creation Care Team. Since the garden beds had not been used for a few years, they were fixed up and given a good dose of compost to get them ready for planting. Over the spring and summer, members of the team spent time in the garden on their assigned day of the week to weed and harvest. We were able to grow organic carrots, lettuce, green beans, tomatoes, zucchini, beats and peppers. By the end of October, we had donated a total of 116 lbs. of produce to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank! Our end of the year clean-up took a little over an hour at the end of October.
The garden provides a way to actively carry out our congregation's mission to "serve all" by providing quality produce to those who experience food insecurity in our community. It also provides a way for us to work towards building a strong sense of community and to generously meet the needs of others.
Our group will start up again next spring and we would like to extend the invitation for anyone to join. No experience necessary! Diversity gives us strength. Help us in our efforts to fight food injustice in Gallatin Valley while also putting your faith into action.
